Name: ANCESTOR FIGURE Origin: Easter Island Artist: Unknown Description: Copy of an ancestor figure found in a burial cave on Easter Island. Note the prominent, skeletal ribs which, in Easter Island sculpture language, means that this is a ghost or spirit. The same idea is represented by the abalone shell eyes. |
