I found this strange construction in the woods by following a pig trail. It is about eight feet high, circular, shaped like a turret to fit the slight slope, with a very flat top on which are growing one monkeypod tree and several youngish kukui trees. The area all around it is fairly clear and there are two small standing stones that may or may not be markers. Ancient Hawaiians would sometimes build simple agricultural or fishing altars called "ahu" for the use of the commoners, and this may be one of them.
