Across the road straight ahead is a narrow gorge through which the Opaeka'a Stream flows until it reaches a valley and then curves into the Wailua River. The river is directly behind this viewpoint. With its position on a ridge between two streams and facing the ocean, Poliahu Heiau fulfills the ideal Hawaiian conditions for geoenergetic placement.
