Head back to the same sandy path that you took up and you can see a view of Kawaihoa Bay and the coastline all the way to Kawelikoa Point which protects the private paradise called Kipu Kai.
In 1796 King Kamehameha the Great tried to conquer the independent kingdom of Kauai with a fleet of 1200 sailing canoes carrying 10,000 warriors. Most of the boats were sunk and the warriors drowned during a terrible storm in the channel between Oahu and Kauai, but a few of Kamehameha's men made it to this bay where all but a few were killed by the troops of King Kaumuali'i.
