A modern concrete platform supporting a concrete pedestal with a bronze plaque naming Pihana Heiau is being used as an altar by wannabe Hawaiians. The various "offerings" are probably well-meant, but many Hawaiians consider them as a sign of disrespect, about the equivalent of leaving Christian symbols in a Buddhist temple.
