Here I go! It was refreshing, but not as cold as I expected. I swam all the way to the other side and back. The lake is about 130 yards across. Some locals claim the lake is 600 feet deep, which would put it way below sea level. On the other hand, a study made by University of Hawaii bacteriologists said it is only 6 to 9 meters deep. They also said "it is rumored to be brackish and to rise and fall with the tide." However, an inadvertent swallow as I swam across tasted fresh, and if it is only 9 meters deep the changing tide could not affect it.
